I took interest in this because it was about twins, by Mark Twain and it was free. When I read it, I laughed out loud at the introduction. As an adult twin, I've been asked numerous times, "What's it like to be a twin?" and answered, "I don't know, I've never not been a twin.". I enjoyed reviewing well written details about being a twin. It sounded like the story was going to be a "good twin vs evil twin" story, but showed that both twins had their strengths. The story itself is silly, Twain admits himself that it was pointless. It was a quick and entertaining read.Product details

Those Extraordinary Twins Mark Twain 9781484971574 Books Reviews
At one time this was published with Pudd'nhead Wilson. As explained in Twain's introduction, the two stories were originally part of the same tale, but the Twins were later -- um, separated. In some ways I think this is a better and more entertaining story. (Though, of course, Pudd'nhead is a must-read.) Give it a try.
"Those Extraordinary Twins" is certainly not Twain's best work. Compare it to the highly under-rated masterpiece "Pudd'nhead Wilson" to see what Twain's best looks like; no comparison. The main character(s?), conjoined twins, starts out seeming silly and the story can't recover. Twain CAN carry far-out story lines (see "
Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court"), but here, he just doesn't.
It was fun to read but the situations were too extreme.
Interesting and entertaining. The ending made me laugh.
This book portrays the possibilities of the life of being a twin with the exceptional imagination of Twain. The book simply cannot be put down and brings so much joy through the unique humor and wittiness of its author.
Very interesting book. Love it.
This is Mark Twain at his silliest eloquence, a highly entertaining story about Italian Siamese-twin brothers who charm the heart of a small American town and end up in court over a brawl.
There is no moral or sociological point to the story--Mark Twain explains in his introduction that he saw a pair of Siamese twins at a fair and decided to write a silly story about another such pair off the top of his head. It's a lot of fun but it was pure entertainment--I did not feel a twit more edified for having spent half an hour in reading it.
The kindle edition is a bit odd--there are parts of the story in parenthesis that don't follow with the story, for example.
Over all three stars. Minus one for the sometimes weird formatting, and minus one for the lack of any real depth to this little tale.
